Curriculum Framework
At Miles of Smiles Preschool, our children's learning experiences are closely linked to the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) Curriculum Framework for Kindergartens and Preschools in Singapore, which is developed by the Ministry of Education Singapore.

This Framework uses the acronym, ITeach, as a guide for the 6 principles used to plan, design and facilitate quality learning experiences that aids children in their learning and holistic development.

Our Learning Corners
Literacy Corner
WORDS OF WORM
A quiet, cozy spot for children to practice their reading, writing and comprehension skills. Through storytelling, rhymes, reading and writing activities, children are able to progress in their understanding and make use of language to interact and convey their thoughts with the people around them.

A variety of books, interactive writing charts, puppets and bean bags are just a few things included in the Literacy corner.
Arts & Craft
DOODLING ARTISTS
Children will have the opportunity to explore art through different mediums such as painting, drawing, collage making and creating 3-Dimensional artwork. They will also be able to express their ideas and emotions freely through the use of basic elements such as: lines, shapes, colours, textures and patterns.
At this corner, children can paint self-portraits, make origami and mix different colours together to see what happens.
Math & Manipulative
ONE PLUS TWO
The purpose of this learning corner is for children to further develop their fine motor skills and understanding of mathematical concepts through simple hands-on activities provided in the learning corner such as sorting counters, matching numeral cards to quantities of objects, pattern blocks and more.
This helps make learning math a fun experience for the young ones.
Music & Dance
MOVE & GROOVE
This learning corner allows children to explore an array of sounds and music while engaging different body parts at the same time. We provide opportunities for children to learn basic elements of music such as tempo, dynamics, rhythm and pitch through singing, dancing and playing with different musical instruments.
Dramatic Play
CREATIVITY PLAY
It’s always fun for children to pretend to be their favourite character or person. At this corner, children will be able to apply their creativity, self-expression and knowledge to act out their life experiences and be able to role play in an enjoyable and risk-free setting.

Some backdrop we have done for this Learning corner are running a food stall, a doctor’s office as well as creating a home setting.
Nature & Science
SCIENCE EXPLORER
In this Nature & science corner, children will be immersed in a world filled with curiosity and wonderment. We will be bringing the outdoors indoors and provide children countless opportunities to explore nature and science concepts through stocking the corner with magnifying glass, child-safety goggles and tweezers. This will foster children’s observational and problem solving skills, preparing them for future challenges coming their way.
At this learning corner, children will be able to grow their own green beans, dissect flowers and learn about the weather.
